The car is currently expected to achieve a range of 940km and up to 50km on pure electric energy. The Audi A3 e-tron is a near-production concept car, but has not yet received a general operating permit and is therefore not subject to Directive 1999/94/EC. Motorsport Heritage
Audi understands that quattro equals motorsport. The company has held to this equation since its first days. Audi entered the World Rally Championship in 1981 and was exceedingly successful. After this, race cars equipped with permanent all-wheel drive dominated every circuit racing competition they entered. Following its success in motorsport, quattro technology shaped the image of the Audi brand in a more enduring fashion than any million-dollar advertising campaign ever could.
From 1980 through 2009, Audi produced roughly 3.3 million cars with quattro all-wheel drive. In addition to the volume models, the S and RS models also plan an important role here. Audi quattro Continues to Debut Technology Updates
Exactly thirty years after the debut of the first quattro, Audi presents a new and innovative evolutionary stage of its permanent all-wheel drive system for longitudinal engines – the quattro drive with crown gear differential and torque vectoring. Inside the new center differential are two rotating crown gears that owe their name to the crown-like design of their teeth. The rear crown gear drives the propshaft to the rear axle, and the front one the output shaft that runs to the front axle’s differential. The technology will debut in the new Audi RS 5 high-performance coupé, with which Audi is further extending its competitive advantage.
There is a broad swath line of technologies stretching back from today to the first Audi quattro, from the classic manually locking center differential to the very latest evolutionary stage, the crown gear center differential. Over the last 30 years, Audi has repeatedly broken new ground with quattro permanent all-wheel drive, including for the models with transverse-mounted engines and for the R8 high-performance sports car with its very unique technology layout.

Four TDI Models Released Next Fall

Audi Moves Forward with Progressive Design Strategies

Wolfgang Egger firmly believes that “good design must always express a vision.” The Head of Audi Design senses that automotive design is ready for a change. “We need something new without breaking with tradition.” Audi Design has been reorganized, and Egger and his team are redefining their focus. They are placing more emphasis on the creative process and are thus exerting a substantial influence on the design of future Audi products.
Technology integrated into design
The refined Audi design language and philosophy will focus on a strong link between technology and design. Egger’s credo: “Only when design and technology mesh perfectly does an automobile make a statement for the Audi brand.” Technology will therefore no longer be enclosed, but rather exposed. For the first time, the union of technology and design will emphasize internal technical elements so strongly that it will create a new dimension of product authenticity
Interior and exterior intertwine
Thanks to the holistic design, the interior and exterior of future model generations are more closely intertwined than ever to create a seamless unity that makes it easier to distinguish the models by their interiors as well. This additional differentiation further accentuates the unique character of each model in the cabin, which is focused on the driver. “Our refined strategy at Audi Design emphasizes clarity and a focus on the essentials,” says Egger in summary.
Introducing studio concept
The Concept Design Studio in Munich is showing the way and reflects the freedom in the work process of the creative talents. The studio philosophy that has proved so effective at the Munich studio will now also make its way to the design studios in Ingolstadt. Thanks to Wolfgang Egger’s studio concept, the three segments of automotive design – Interior, Exterior and Color&Trim – will work more closely together at Audi headquarters in the future in order to design a car from a holistic perspective, particularly during the initial creative phase
All of these factors will result in greater differentiation between the A, R and Q model lines in the future. Looking ahead, the design team is initially concentrating on the Q family which embodies a robust, distinctive appearance. Audi Chandler Celebrates Recent Category Sweep at 2012 Ideal Vehicle Awards
Chandler, AZ August 2012 – Audi was recently named the Highest Premium Brand for the Autobytel and AutoPacific 2012 Ideal Vehicle Awards (IVAs). Audi Chandler celebrates the brand award and the amazing sweep of the Aspirational Luxury Car category by the Audi A4, Audi A5, and Audi A6.

The awards were based on a survey of over 75,000 new car and light truck owners, and recognize the cars that meet their owner’s expectations and desires about their automotive purchases. The award-winning 2.0 TFSI® engine provides 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque and combines Audi valvelift system, variable valve timing and TFSI direct injection.
