Home Care Services Supports Seniors’ Social Needs

By kristan

ComForcare caregivers provide personal companionship services and help seniors enjoy healthy social experiences.COMFORCARE LOGO

Bloomfield Hills, MI, April, 2013 – ComForcare Home Care promotes healthy social habits for senior clients to foster a healthier lifestyle. Caregivers visit the homes of aging clients to provide companionship services and social interactions.

“Seniors are especially vulnerable to feelings of isolation, loneliness and depression if they spend long periods of time alone,” said ComForcare Home Care President, Mark Armstrong.  “Our caregivers provide beneficial company and conversation for our clients.”

Home care providers are available to listen and converse when clients want to reminisce about the past, talk about grandchildren or discuss current events or hobbies.  For clients who have limited mobility or are unable to drive, ComForcare caregivers can provide transportation and escort them to social events, entertainment venues, club meetings or visits with family and friends.

Whether it is help getting dressed or preparing a meal, taking a walk or playing a game of cards, caregiver assistance and companionship enhances older adults’ health and happiness.  By having someone visit a few times a week or provide full-time care, families can ensure their loved ones have someone around to care for, listen to, and spend time with them.

Because of the one-on-one time caregivers spend with clients on a regular basis, they become familiar with clients’ behaviors and habits.  Often, they are the first to notice if there is a change in a client that may signal a need for additional care or resources.  Home care providers work closely with clients’ families to ensure the highest quality of care and to meet each client’s individual needs.

Home Care Service Makes Caregiving Personal

By kristan

ComForcare provides a personalized care assessment for new clients in order to deliver custom, client-centered home care services.

Bloomfield Hills, MI, April, 2013 – ComForcare Home Care provides clients with personalized care assessments to ensure the highest quality care.  For many families, finding the right fit for home care services can be daunting, but ComForcare makes that process easier thanks to its customized care plans. COMFORCARE LOGO

“Our goal is to provide the services that ensure each client is able to live a healthy, dignified and independent lifestyle,” said ComForcare President, Mark Armstrong.  “That means something different for every client, and we work directly with families to design just the right care plan for their loved ones.”

After services are requested, a ComForcare nurse visits the client at home to gather all pertinent medical and personal information, including a safety and fall risk assessment.  Then, ComForcare partners with the client and family to create a customized care plan based on this information.  The ComForcare Care Plan addresses both the physical and social needs of every client.

“We believe that this approach sets us apart from other home care agencies because it allows us to deliver care that is unique to each individual receiving our services, and elevates the level of service we provide,” said Armstrong.

During the assessment, the nurse also reviews the proposed schedule of services and answers any questions the client or family may have.  Services can be scheduled for short-term transition periods, or on an ongoing part-time or full-time basis.  Respite services are also available to provide relief for family caregivers so they can take a break from their caregiving responsibilities, travel or attend to personal matters.

ComForcare Norwood Provides Free Fall Prevention Assessments for Seniors

By kristan

ComForcare Norwood is helping Boston seniors more comfortably age in place by keeping their homes safe and accessible.COMFORCARE LOGO

Boston, MA May, 2013 – ComForcare of Norwood, MA is helping seniors live more comfortably at home as they choose to age in place.  Each year, thousands of Americans reach retirement age, and many of those individuals are choosing to spend their golden years at home, rather than relocating to a live-in retirement community, nursing home, or assisted living facility.  ComForcare works with clients and their families to enable seniors to live a healthier, safer, and more independent lifestyle.

For those who have chosen to age in place, there are some important things to consider including mobility.  As people age, they may require more assistance to get around.  This can include the use of a cane, wheelchair, or walker.  ComForcare Norwood helps clients families assess their home to determine if there are any mobility or safety issues that need to be addressed.  For seniors, falls can be a serious concern, so the home care agency provides free fall prevention and home safety assessments to address safety and accessibility concerns for seniors.  This includes:

The entrance of the home.  ComForcare suggests clients observe their front entrance for accessibility and consider implementing a ramp or chair or stair lifts and appropriate porch coverings to prevent against fall hazards including snow, rain, and ice.

The bathroom.  Many falls occur in the bathroom, so it is important to access the accessibility an safety of this area as you age.  ComForcare home care providers may suggest a walk in shower instead of a tub, toilet seats that provide a more comfortable height, grab bars in the shower and near the toilet, and non-slip mats on the floors of the tub or shower.  These features will make the bathroom safer and easier to use for individuals who may have increasing mobility issues as they age.

The kitchen.  Another area of the house that ComForcare home care providers may assess is the kitchen.  It is important to reduce fire hazards, ensure appliances and cupboards are accessible, and to create convenient work spaces that can be used while sitting.

Comfort features.  Sometimes, just making a few basic changes can increase the comfort of an again loved one in their own home.  This includes switching out old light switches and replacing them with smooth wide switches that are easier to use.  It may also include remodeling rooms for easier access or adding additional lighting throughout the house.  In extreme cases, emergency remodels may be necessary to create a more accessible living space (for example creating a bedroom downstairs).

By kristan

ComForcare Home Care franchises serve clients and their families by providing a wide array of services to enable seniors to live a more comfortable and independent lifestyle in the comfort of their home.

Bloomfield Hills, MI, April 2013 – ComForcare home care franchises help families manage the responsibilities of caring for an aging loved one.  In today’s society, many families live a great distance from each other.  This deprives children and siblings from the time necessary to provide companionship and assistance to elderly family members. COMFORCARE LOGO

ComForcare franchise owners provide compassionate caregivers for aging loved ones to satisfy their home care needs and support the entire family.  Because of this, ComForcare franchise owners support two clients:

-          The first is the person with home care needs

-          The second is their family who is concerned about them and often pays for or subsidizes the home care services

ComForcare trains caregivers to make both clients happy.  Every ComForcare employee is meticulously screened with a rigorous 10-step hiring process and is fully licensed, bonded, and insured.  Home care providers care for clients in their own home, providing a range of non-medical services including bathing, grooming, and hygiene assistance, meal preparation, medication reminders, safety supervision, transportation assistance, light housekeeping, family respite services, and companionship.

ComForcare Home Care franchise owners find satisfaction in the opportunity to serve seniors and their families within their community.  Home care services not only enable seniors to live a healthier and more independent lifestyle, but they also bring peace of mind to their families.

ComForcare Assists Veterans in Finding Available Federal Funds for Home Care Services

By kristan

Home care franchises go the extra mile to help clients and their families discover funding benefits including the Veteran’s Pension Benefit.COMFORCARE LOGO

Home care franchise owners work hard to deliver an exceptional level of service for each of their clients.  When it comes to choosing a reliable home care service, the task can be a daunting one, but ComForcare offers peace of mind for families and their aging loved ones.  At ComForcare, each home care nurse offers professional, compassionate, and reliable home care services to meet the unique needs of their clients.

Uncovering Military Benefits

Each local ComForcare franchise is dedicated to helping seniors in their community live more comfortably at home.  In addition to providing home care services, ComForcare can also work with clients to help them discover federal funding options. For example, ComForcare Home Care provides information for current and prospective clients who served in the military to help them determine if they are eligible for benefits through the Veteran’s Pension Fund.

“We are happy to assist clients in the application process for the veteran’s program,” shares ComForcare Home Care President, Mark Armstrong.  “That is part of our commitment to providing the home care services clients and their families need and deserve.”

One common source of home care funding for seniors comes from pension.  Pension is a benefit paid to senior wartime veterans who have financial need.  These benefits are paid in addition to standard pension benefits.  Many veterans are not aware that they may qualify for additional benefits through the Veteran’s Pension Fund, even if they are not disabled.

Veterans Benefit Pension Qualifications

ComForcare encourages clients to review eligibility requirements which include the following:

-          Have served at least 90 days on active duty

-          Have served at least one day during a period of war (as defined by the VA)

-          Be over 65 or totally and permanently disabled

-          Not have a dishonorable discharge

-          Meet specific financial criteria

Families who believe their loved one my qualify for this pension benefit should contact their local home care service to find out more.  Home care professionals at each ComForcare franchise can help clients through the application process and then provide quality care services that each veteran needs and deserves.

For ComForcare franchise owners, delivering exceptional home care services encompasses many steps, including coordinating funding.  It is another way that ComForcare strives to provide an elevated level of service and lead with higher standards within the home care industry.

Home Care Service Tips: Coordinating Home Care Funding

By kristan

ComForcare Home Care works with families to deliver the most appropriate level of service and to more easily coordinate funding for home care services.COMFORCARE LOGO

Home care services provide families peace of mind knowing their aging loved ones are being cared for by professional, caring, and reliable caregivers.  At ComForcare, we understand the concerns families have if they think a loved one may need help.  It is an issue that thousands of Americans face each day as the baby boomer generation continues to age.  In fact, the senior population is now the largest population segment in the United States, and is continuing to grow each day.  Many of these individuals are choosing to spend their golden years in the comfort of their own home, and may rely on help from family, friends, and home care agencies to maintain a healthy, comfortable, and independent lifestyle.

Finding the Right Home Care Service

Whether you have the support of other family members or are the sole caregiver for an elderly loved one, home care services can make a world of difference for you and your family.  However, to find the best care for your loved you have to do a lot of research, ask the right questions, and make many decisions, some of which may be difficult.

The process begins when families realize they need help and search for the best kind of services to fit their unique needs.  ComForcare Home Care offers a variety of services that can be adapted and scheduled to fit each client’s needs.  ComForcare home care nurses are experienced in helping families deal with the issues that arise as a loved one ages or deals with a chronic condition.  ComForcare franchises can help at every stage of the process and assist families and clients in making the right decisions.

Sourcing Funding For Home Care Services

Once services are agreed upon, families then begin the process of determining how these services will be funded.  ComForcare has many years of experience and is well-qualified to help families navigate the process of funding home care services.

There are many different funding sources and payors to consider including:

-          Long-term insurance

-          Private payments

-          Combined family payments

-          Worker’s compensation

-          Auto insurance

-          Reverse mortgage funding

-          Veteran’s benefits

-          Federal funds

ComForcare will work with each home care client and their family to ensure the payment of services is easily processed.  Furthermore, every client comes from a different background and has different needs, and ComForcare can help design a service plan that fits each family’s needs and budget.  ComForcare providers can also direct families to resources that assist clients in finding and obtaining appropriate financial assistance.
